Appointments System
The practice and the telephone lines are open from 8.30am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday. The telephone lines are closed from 12.30pm-1.30pm. If you need urgent medical help or advice during this time please telephone 01292 671444 for instruction.
All our appointments are by telephone consultation in the first instance by a GP. This system works well for our patients since many issues can be dealt with appropriately by telephone. Any patient who requires to be seen will be appointed as required. This also allows relevant tests to be carried out prior to being seen by the GP.
If you require a telephone appointment, you should call the practice as early as possible in the morning, prior to 10am.
For ongoing chronic conditions, patients can request a continuation telephone appointment with their preferred GP, however, you must be prepared to wait for this as all our GPs are exceptionally busy dealing with on the day telephone triage and urgent appointments.
Our receptionists are highly skilled in triage and appointing patients to the most appropriate health care professional. Please help them to help you by giving as much information as possible. Please remember it is not always necessary for you to wait to see a GP. We have a fantastic team of multidisciplinary health care professionals working within the practice. This means that often our patients can be booked directly with expert specialists e.g. physiotherapist, pharmacist, mental health practitioner.
Failure to Attend or Cancel Appointments
Failure to keep appointments leads to delays in other patients receiving appointments and appropriate treatment. If an appointment is no longer required, please ensure you cancel it. Patients who continually fail to keep appointments will be removed from our list. Please sign up to our text confirmation and reminder system for appointments.
Ayrshire Bloods
There has been a change to how hospital requests for blood tests are managed within Ayrshire. Any hospital consultant who requires bloods to be taken prior to a clinic will now refer the patient into the Ayrshire Bloods Service. Patients will have the choice of attending the Biggart Hospital or North Ayr Health Centre to have their bloods taken. This system will ensure that the results of your blood tests are sent directly to the appropriate consultant prior to your hospital appointment.
