Please note the practice will be closed on the afternoon of 21st August for protected learning.

We will also be closed for the bank holiday on Friday 20th & Monday 23rd September. Please order your medication in time and if you require urgent care on these dates, please contact NHS24 on 111.

Test Results
Please telephone for test results between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Appointments
You may see the Doctor of your choice by appointment. Please telephone or speak to the receptionist a few days in advance for routine appointments. Urgent cases will be seen the same day, but it is helpful if you telephone in the morning. Please try to give the receptionists any information which they may ask for, as this helps the Doctor assess your request

Home Visits
Please make every effort to come to the Surgery as this gives the Doctor more time and better facilities to deal with your problem. If you are too ill to attend the Surgery it is helpful if you can telephone your request for a home visit as early as possible in the morning, ideally before 9.30am.

Cancelling your Appointment
Unfortunately, we continue to have a number of patients failing to attend appointments, which has an adverse affect on appointments available for other patients.

During the month of July , there were 174 missed appointments, which equates to 29 hours of lost consultation time.

If you are unable to attend an appointment, it is important to let reception know in order to allow the appointment to be offered to another patient. We thank you for your co-operation in this respect.

Opening Times

The main Surgery, in Prestwick, is open from 8.30am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Surgery telephone lines are open Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5.30pm. However, please note special times for ordering prescriptions and enquiring about test results.

Appointments at the main surgery are available 8.30am-5.30pm. Additional early morning appointments are available from 8am.

Can patients please note an appointment for consultation is for one problem only. If you are concerned that you require more than the allocated time, please speak to the receptionist who may be able to arrange additional time for you.

Branch Surgery

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 3.50pm–5.30pm

There is no direct telephone access to our branch Surgery at the North Ayr Health Centre. Consultation is by appointment and telephone enquiries should be made via our main Surgery in Prestwick 01292 671444 (8.30am–5.30pm, Monday–Friday). Many of the “other services” mentioned in this website are only available at our Prestwick Surgery, but these services are open to all our patients and we would encourage you to use them. Please enquire at reception or telephone the main Surgery.

Extended Opening Hours

The practice offers a range of extended hours appointment times which are available outside the core opening hours. These appointments can be booked in advance and are for patients who cannot attend the practice during normal consulting times, due to work or travel commitments. Please ask our Receptionists about our extended hours.

When we are Closed

closed Ayrshire & Arran Health Board has commissioned NHS 24 to provide an out of hours, telephone advice service at nights and weekends for patients with urgent medical problems.

If you require to be seen, NHS 24 will arrange for you to see one of the Doctors working for Ayrshire Doctors on Call (ADOC).

When you telephone our Surgery number out of hours 01292 671444, an answering machine will give you the on call telephone number to telephone. Alternatively you can contact NHS 24 directly on 111 If you simply need advice, a Nursing Sister or Doctor will speak to you. If you need to be seen by a Doctor and are fit to travel, you will be invited to a treatment centre. If your problem is more serious and you are not fit to travel, a Doctor will visit you at home.

Please be prepared to give a few details including name, address and telephone number etc. when you telephone the out of hours number.

Telephone calls to the out of hours service are recorded. Please remember that the service is for URGENT problems only.
